Shadow Shot Sunday - February 28th, 2016
A late addition for Shadow Shot Sunday today. Bike shadows I noticed on the way to Writers' Week.

Shadow Shot Sunday - February 21st, 2016
Today's shot is actually from last night. Brianna and I went in to the city to see the buildings on North Terrace lit up. Fringe Illuminations is part of this year's Adelaide Fringe Festival. I didn't get to see a lot as we decided to rush to get the 9pm train home. As we were leaving I stopped and Brianna said, 'You're not going to take a photo of the shadows are you?' It was my plan. Some huge leaves were blowing in front of the projector and the shadows looked great (as did all the colours and pictures!)
The illuminations are on until next Sunday night. I'm hoping to get back next weekend without the 15 year old who really would have preferred to be at home. The story wall at the State Library looked particularly interesting.

Shadow Shot Sunday - January 24th, 2016
A few photos from my week for Shadow Shot Sunday today.
Yesterday I found my cat sitting quite comfortably in the washing basket and thinking it looked like an interesting photo I grabbed the camera (aka my phone!). It wasn't until afterwards that I noticed the great shadows.
After my First Aid training session on Monday I went for a walk to the Botanic Gardens. I had hoped to see one of the Sacred Lotus flowers but there were none in bloom that day. I went into the glasshouse and there were some Blue Lotus of Egypt flowers in bloom and I got a few great photos. Here's one with a fantastic shadow.
A bit of a change for me for Shadow Shot Sunday today. Usually I post photos of shadows around my house on the actual day. So, in continuing with that tradition, here's a cute little shadow from a coat hanger.

Lots of great shadows today. Thank you sun, weeds and grapevines growing wild in the backyard.

A feast for the birds (and Shadow Shot Sunday - December 13, 2015)
I wrote about my bumper crop of apricots last year. You can read about it here. It's a very different story this year. There are not as much fruit on the tree and the birds have certainly found what is there. I have managed to pick some and give some away again and if I'm quick I will get some more as they ripen but nothing like last year's crop.

Shadow Shot Sunday - September 27, 2015
I spotted some great shadows this morning while doing the dishes. My kitchen window looks out on to a small garden area. It doesn't take much to distract me from the dishes. I was soon out there taking photos.
These are from some very large leaves |
This one reminds me of a lizard (upside down). |
Some wispy, weedy shadows |
A rose plant growing in a crack in the cement. |
Great shadows today - you can see the edges of the leaves! |

Poetry and a couple of bugs
Last Sunday I went down to Goolwa to the Signal Point Gallery for the launch of the Friendly Street Poets reader for 2014.
There was only a small crowd, particularly in comparison with last year's event, but it was a pleasant afternoon of poetry in a great setting.
Friendly Street Poets is Australia’s longest running open-mic poetry reading community. Each year editors choose poems from the open-mic readings to form an anthology. I've seen quite a few of them and they are full of good quality poems (the latest included).
As well as enjoying the poetry there was a great art exhibition on (as there usually is). I took a couple of photos of some rather large bugs.
These amazing sculptures are by Benjamin Young who has used his skills as an Artistic Blacksmith in his recovery from a serious brain injury (suffered in previous employment).
There's a little bit of a double meaning with my six words for Six Word Saturday this week.
Brianna and I have both been quite sick this week with some sort of bug. It's been a few days of lots of rest.
This coming week will have poetry in it for me as well. My poetry group is hosting a Friendly Street meeting on Thursday evening. I'm looking forward to it and the opportunity to share some of my words and listen to others.

Shadow Shot Sunday - September 13, 2015
What a fabulous day for shadows today!
A while ago my landlord cleared a lot of the area outside my kitchen window. With all the space, the Jasmine plant has well and truly taken advantage of the chance to spread. It's leaves make for some great shadows.
There's a rusty old chair that the plant has latched on to,
taking the opportunity to grow in another direction.
I also spotted some great shadows near the back gate. These grow into huge trees, which are rather a nuisance but they do make for some great shadows. These plants will be gone soon. I need to get out and do some clearing. It's difficult to get motivated though, particularly with the coughs and sneezes which inevitably come at the start of Spring for me.

Shadow Shot Sunday - October 12th, 2014
Cute little shadows today for Shadow Shot Sunday. These ones remind me of a little bird. I didn't notice the spider webs until I was looking at the photos on the computer. The camera certainly sees what is there.

Shadow Shot Sunday - October 5th, 2014
A variety of shadows today for Shadow Shot Sunday.
Last night I was kind of watching television and noticed some great shadows cast from some "Where the Wild Things Are" figures that I have on top of a bookshelf.
This morning I took some photographs along with discovering rather a lot of dust.
After a quick dust and a bit of a change around I took a few more photos. Here's a couple that turned out best.
I then ventured outside. All of my shots for Shadow Shot Sunday are taken in and around my house and yard.
Here are some leafy shadows on leaves.
What is leaf and what is shadow?
and some shadows on a fallen palm frond.

Shadow Shot Sunday - September 21st, 2014
It's been a long time since I participated in Shadow Shot Sunday. It was over 2 years ago on August 12th, 2012. I was very pleased to see it was still going when I returned to my blog a few weeks ago. Today is such a fabulous day for shadows here and here I am once again.
I ventured down to the back of my backyard earlier today and discovered lots of wonderful shadows.
I love these shadows on the leaves -
and then I discovered they also look great from underneath and with the sky as background.
I had been avoiding getting the sun in the shots and then I took one quickly before heading back inside. Wow! I love how this one turned out.
To see other people's shadow shots head over to Shadow Shot Sunday. It's really good to be back!
